Grease – things have changed since 1978

Grease

I noticed that today is Olivia Netwon Jones’ birthday, the actress who played the lead role in “Grease“, loved by millions musical filmed in 1978.

Happy Birthday!

However, on this occasion I got the idea that the message of this musical is probably not quite ok.

In short (spoiler alert!):

the story goes that a pair of students meet on vacation and fall in love. After summer it occurs that they go to the same school.

She is beautiful, modest and cute. But he, at school, is no longer that nice boy from the beach, but a school tough guy, a charismatic alpha male.
The beautiful Sandy (Olivia) is rejected by Danny (John), mainly because the alpha herd expects their leader’s girlfriend to be a sex bomb.

The happy finale comes only when Sandy turns into a confident, sex vamp.

It has changed a bit since 1978, as at least one can express such opinions. And the movie is still worth seeing, if only to be able to agree with my opinion!

Fall and Layers

Autumn is quite nice if you look at it with a friendly eye.

You have charged batteries after the summer, and I will not write about enjoying the eye with colors.

Many new possibilities are opening for the photographer.

In addition, you can put layers and layers on, and enjoy clothing experiments.

I came up with a photo session on combining different styles in Fall. Inga Falkowska has prepared great original necklace, Ulyana Klichytska has provided the dress, Ana-Ahez has been a wonderful model, and makeup have been done by Antoine. We had the session at Inga’s Wherenowhere gallery in Brussels.

Plan A, B, C…

Plan A, B, C…

Plan A, B, C…

Any plans for the weekend? I bet something unexpected or unplanned will happen anyway.

How many times have you managed to accomplish something in each and every detail as planned?

There is so many things we do not control.

In fact, much more then these which we do.
There are people who do not like changes in plans at all and woe to these who cause such situations.

There is no point in loosing your energy and nerves to fight unpredictability and randomness. Me, I like changes, but only for the better.

I am not saying that it is impossible to achieve the goal – especially in a long term.

If you know what you want (What will make you happy), you will achieve it one way or the other.

If plan A won’t work, you still have more than twenty letters in the alphabet.

Twirling Hair

Twirling Hair

Boredom must be interpreted as the time for Twirling Hair. In the sense that the best solution for boredom is to give yourself time for constructive unproductivity.

Boring often happens when you have to do repetitive tasks, or the topic no longer interests you.

The point is, that instead of falling into the black abyss and blaming your boss for not interesting work, approach the matter with optimism.

If you are bored, it means that you have additional energy at your disposal, which you only need to manage properly. A few minutes of twirling hair and probably an idea will appear.

I also suggest looking at the article “What will make you happy“.

First of all, intellectual mind burns more calories and secondly, likes sweets very much.

In my favorite book “Thinking, Fast and Slow” Daniel Kahneman explained that when a mind is engaged in analysis or learning, it is influenced by our human, primary system of behavior, and it so happens that this system is a fan of desserts.

It follows that mental effort is not an excuse but a scientifically explained reason for reaching for sweets.

In addition, it only confirms that you are intelligent, capable and put a lot of effort into tasks you work on.

Achieving goals – being not that SMART

Achieving goals – being not that SMART

To be not that SMART

Achieving goals by introducing a system my be smarter.

I will lose 5 kilos by the end of the year – this is my goal for the rest of 2019.

Wait a second, why five? And four will not be good? Or six? Until December? And if I lose weight four by Janury the 15th, I will be dissatisfied?

I will, because it shows lack of perseverance, strong will, determination and other characteristics from this category.

Nonsense, right?

Setting goals just to prove to yourself that you are failure is a very popular topic.

So set a goal and achieve it, be hard, or be condemned.  You set yourself a specific goal and tell yourself that unless you lose weight, you will not be happy, healthy, rich, etc.

So what to do? Do not lose weight? Yes, but in a slightly different way.

Achieving goals, is often based on the very popular SMART method.

According to SMART, in order for the goals to be good, they must be:

S – Simple; M – Measurable; A – Assessable; R – Realistic; T – Timebound

So, this is what we get:

S – lose weight

M – 5 kilos

A – permanently (for example without a yo-yo effect)

R – others can I can do it too (I have clear evidence on the Internet,  have you seen all these memes “before and after”?!)

T – by the end of the year

We launch a mechanism that tells us that unless we achieve the goal, we will not be happy, healthy, rich, etc.

We are angry if achieving goals becomes too hard. Until you lose five kilos, your efforts will not be enough. And what if it will be four and a half?

How can you improve yourself and your life in a different way?

Loose weight as a side effect of having a system.

Define behaviours and activities that will result in the desired effects.

For example, if we are using the example of losing kilograms, introduce a healthy eating system. We do not go on a draconian diet to suffer for several weeks. After reading this blog, you can immediately for example drink an additional half a litre of water a day.

And every day, when you do, you’ll be happy with yourself. Then you can try to eat a fruit dessert instead of a cake. And we have introduced another element of the system. Add going for a longer walk, exercise as much as possible, etc.

The effect is that:

– Every day brings progress

– You have every reason to be proud of yourself every day

– You stress less every day

Maybe you will not lose exactly five pounds by December. But you will do something good for yourself on a way!

It is also important to know what goals do you really want to achieve. What will make you happy?
