Apollo 11 – 50th anniversary of many first things ever

Today the World and NASA celebrates 50th anniversary of launching first men to the Moon, mission Apollo 11. Actually the real walk on the surface took place four days later, July the 20th. I guess today NASA starts four days long celebration.

50th anniversary of a launch, 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 landing, 50th anniversary of the Man Walk on the Moon, 50th anniversary of having one woman in the Flight Control Centre.

Now, there is a plan to send the First Woman to the Moon, to get support for this investment which real purpose is private exploration.

Let’s have a look how it would work.

JoAnn Morgan, who worked as an instrumentation controller for the mission, was the only woman allowed inside the firing room where NASA employees were locked during Apollo 11’s historic lift off on July 16, 1969.

For the next 3 years Apollo missions continued. And in 1972, Apollo 17th reached a limit of the records.  The longest time spent on the surface of the moon, longest time in lunar orbit, and longest total extravehicular activities.

At this point of time, they have simply overlooked that one more record was out there to be broken – the first woman on the Moon! This way US would have bitten Russians who did sent the first woman to space, Valentina Tereshkova in 1963.

Better late than never

A new program called Artemis (sister of Apollo) is going to break this new record. All the billions of dollars will be spent and we, women, will be finally given a chance. The mission is advertised as NASA’s program to return astronauts to the lunar surface by 2024, including the first woman and the next man.

Yes, it is pleasing to know that letting a woman to walk on the Moon causes such an effort. Although female astronauts still have fewer opportunities to fly in space than men, partially because of strict lifetime radiation exposure restrictions.

Twirling my hair I think that about popularity of funny cats videos, and the fact that Russians have also sent a dog into space (Laika). I am ready to speculate, that to justify even more private companies’ exploitation of the Moon, we will soon send the First Cat to the Moon.

I suggest mission name: Garfield.

Grease – things have changed since 1978

I noticed that today is Oliwia Netwon Jones’ birthday, the actress who played the lead role in “Grease”, loved by millions musical filmed in 1978. However, on this occasion I got the idea that the message of this musical is probably not quite ok.

Fall and layers

Autumn is quite nice if you look at it with a friendly eye. You can put layers and layers on, and enjoy clothing experiments.

Plan A, B, C…

Any plans for the weekend? I bet something unexpected or unplanned will happen anyway.
